Breathwork
1:1 breathwork sessions are designed for people who feel ready to expand their awareness and explore new perspectives within themselves. When the body experiences ongoing stress, it can begin to show up in many different ways throughout our lives.
Why Breathwork?
Breathwork creates a bridge between the mind and the body, offering a safe space for awareness, integration, and healing to unfold.
Research into trauma and stress, including work explored in The Body Keeps the Score, highlights how the body can hold information from past experiences. Humans have a tendency to store emotional and psychological experiences within the nervous system. Over time, these experiences can accumulate in the body, creating patterns of tension, protection, or fatigue that affect how we feel and function in daily life.
Conscious connected breathwork offers a way to work directly with these deeper layers of the body. This style of breathing uses a continuous, rhythmic pattern that gently alters the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the body and influences the nervous system. As the breath becomes steady and connected, brainwave patterns can begin to shift into states commonly associated with deep meditation and relaxation.
In this altered state of awareness, the thinking mind softens, and the body’s natural processes become more accessible. Sensations, emotions, or memories that have been stored within the nervous system may begin to surface. Through the steady rhythm of the breath, the body can process these experiences and reorganise itself in a healthier and more balanced way.
Have you ever considered talk therapy and then realised you’re not exactly sure what is wrong? You simply know that something doesn’t feel quite right within your being.
What to Expect in a Breathwork Session
My breathwork sessions combine three different elements that support the body and nervous system.
The first step is learning functional breathing. Many people are surprised to discover that they are not breathing efficiently in their everyday lives. Small adjustments in how we breathe can have a significant effect on our energy levels, mental clarity, and overall well-being.
Next, I teach a variety of daily breathing techniques that help regulate the parasympathetic nervous system. These practices support relaxation, emotional balance, and resilience to stress. They are simple techniques that can easily be integrated into everyday life.
The main focus of the work I guide people through is transformational breathwork. The other breathing practices I teach are designed to support your nervous system between sessions, helping you build awareness and stability as the deeper work unfolds.
This practice works on the deeper layers within the body. Through a guided breathing process, the nervous system can access stored emotions, memories, and patterns that may be held within the body. When this happens in a safe and supportive environment, the body can begin to process these experiences and shift long-held tension.
For many people, this is where meaningful changes begin.
Because transformational breathwork can bring forward powerful experiences, it is important that the process is guided by a trained facilitator.
Having support allows the body to move through the experience safely and helps integrate what arises during the session.
How Breathwork Can Support Everyday Life
Breath is one of the most powerful tools we have for supporting the body, calming the mind, and reconnecting with ourselves. At Elevated Transformation, breathwork is used as a gentle yet profound way to support the nervous system and create space for healing and awareness.
-
Regulating the Nervous System
Your breath has a direct relationship with your nervous system. When breathing becomes slow, steady, and intentional, it signals safety to the body. This process helps the body move out of a stress response and into a more balanced state where rest, recovery, and clarity can occur. When the mind begins to settle, the brain can more easily access the prefrontal cortex, the area connected to creativity, problem-solving, and higher awareness. During periods of ongoing stress, this part of the brain often becomes less active, which can make it harder to think clearly or feel connected to our natural creativity and intuition.
-
Supporting Stress and Anxiety
When life becomes overwhelming, the breath often becomes shallow and irregular. Breathwork practices help restore a more natural breathing rhythm, which can calm the mind and settle the body. With regular practice, many people find they are better able to navigate stressful situations with greater ease and presence.
-
Strengthening the Body’s Natural Resilience
When the body is under constant stress, the immune system can become weakened. Breathwork helps reduce stress hormones and encourages a more balanced internal environment. Supporting the breath in this way allows the body’s natural systems to function more effectively and maintain overall well-being.
-
Building Emotional Balance
Our emotional experiences often live within the body. Breathwork provides a safe way to become aware of these sensations and move through them with greater understanding. With practice, this can support emotional balance and help create a deeper sense of inner stability.
-
Increasing Energy and Focus
When the breath becomes more efficient, the body receives oxygen more effectively. This can improve energy levels and reduce feelings of fatigue. Many people find that breathwork helps them feel more motivated, productive, and engaged in daily life.
-
Supporting Physical Wellbeing
Healthy breathing patterns support the entire body. By improving oxygenation and reducing tension, breathwork can support physical performance, recovery, and overall vitality. Whether someone is active or simply looking to feel better in their body, the breath can play an important role in supporting physical health.
